· This amazing set was made in Nov 1979, photo of date code stamped on inside cabinet is provided. Photo of SN on the SP1003 Drive units also shown J = October last two digits “79” are for the year. This shows the SP1003 units do match the production time of the cabinets.
· Sound has been carefully checked, no abnormalities or loss of detail was noted over several days of random interval listening was conducted.
· Visual inspection of the crossovers shows them to be original along with the rest of the components, with correct stamped parts.
· Importantly; on the 15 Ohm units, the R4 resistor does not show signs of being burnt, nor does any other parts on the crossover. This is a very important inspection as it is a common fail area for this model. Whether considering purchasing these or another set of 15 Ohm Ls3, it is an important step to ensure this is checked and photos provided before making purchase. This will help save a lot of remorse. · These were purchased by a fellow audio loving friend a few years back along with some other equipment. At the time he did not notice the Serial Numbers on the back decal had been cut off. There is no way to confirm why they were removed, but only to speculate at this point. Luckily the SN’s are also written in the inside of each cabinet to show they are a matched pair. (See photos)
· Also included in the photos is some information gathered when doing my own research on these that I found helpful in confirming the authenticity of the speakers. Please use the information as well as your own research. There were fake versions of these made, sites and forums that are helpful and provide a wealth of information when buying a used pair. (gratitude to LS35Adotcom for providing their expertise) Please do your diligence and use the photos to research what you are buying.
Cosmetics:
· In total, this is a very gorgeous set, free from major signs of damage, abuse and overall well kept from the passage of time and use.
· Given the collectability, value, and variance in what is acceptable cosmetics from one person to the next; All photos internal and external were taken with the mindset of provided you with all the visual details needed to make a confident purchase. Please use the photos provided. Because there is a limit on how many photos can be uploaded on a listing, if there is anything you need to see a closer or different angle of, please send a message.
· Buyer is fully responsible to review all photos provided, send any questions or requests, prior to making purchase.
· Some areas to note and review during your visual inspection (photos are of the actual speakers being sold) – There is some slight rounding on some of the corners, very subtle and mostly on the back corners. The bottom right front corner does have some de-lamination and minor chipping along its edge. Most of this is on the bottom side, so not visible, but buyer should note. No attempt to repair or conceal the cosmetics has been attempted. It will be up to the buyers discretion and means to repair or restore any cosmetics.
· Grills and original cloth are in great condition, free from damage, heavy stains, snags, tears, holes, etc.
· Original black/silver badges are intact/included.
