Sansui AU-505 Integrated Amplifier 100-240 Volt - Restored Beautiful Sound 😍 🎶

Performance:
The Unit has been carefully restored, replacing all electrolytic capacitors on the main and tone boards. The single main power cap was pulled and tested performing perfectly within spec. The large coupling caps on main board were replaced and upgraded to 6800uf with new Nichicon caps. At your requests, I can easily put smaller coupling caps in before shipping if you have a preference. The unit is very stable and BIAS is set to 30v, the 100ohm trim pots replaced reset and read 10mv on the correlating resistors. The coupling cap size selection was a little of an experiment to see if it would enrich the bass response, the norm is to upgrade to 4700uf. I love the sound and response so I left them in, as state above, the unit is running smooth and stable. Furthermore, The small amp will exceed your expectations on ability to drive your even larger speakers and deliver a rich bass response. Do not let the power rating in the specs below fool you on these little Sansui AU cap coupled units.
All other e-caps were replaced with new name brand parts, primarily Nichicon and Panasonic. Audio grade caps were used along the audio signal path and most of the 1uf caps were replaced with WIMA Poly Film caps which I really think helps give the amp amazing clarity and detail to go along with its richness. All caps with exception of the coupling caps were replaced to match original UF values, some did receive a higher rated voltage caps as recommended.
Transistors on main and driver boards were replaced with carefully selected, beta/hfe matched pairs installed properly. So the sound is not contaminated by old noisy transistors. The only transistor on the main board not replaced was TR815. It was tested and performing perfectly.
The Phono section was left alone, it is working and sounding beautiful. If you prefer it to be recapped and matching transistors, just let me know. I left it as it because I enjoyed it as is.
All controls have been serviced, cleaned lubed, fully functional and free from distortion, popping, cutting out, etc.
This particular unit, shares the same driver board as the adored AU-555a which is one of my favorite amps. I wish I still have my 555a to compare the two, but without being able to directly compare, after the restore I think the 505 is very close.
This is the Multi-Volt unit switchable for 100/117/220/240 volts @ 50/60Hz.
** Unit will come set to 117v. Please do not plug in until adjusting voltage setting for your region. Failure to do this is not covered under the warranty below.
Warranty- If you have any issues with the unit within 6 months of posted delivery, you can ship it to me and I will cover the repair and ship back to you. Contact information for repair will be included with the unit. Any repair warranty does not include cosmetic parts. Buyer is responsible for postage to me and its safe packaging, please insure and keep the packaging. Once completed I will pay for the return postage to you.
Exception; Customers residing outside of the continental US are responsible for all postage to and from, so please understand this before making purchase. The 6 month warranty is not a return window, but does cover repair to performance issues. Unit will be delivered as advertised and seen in photos.
For the amount of time and work that went in to this unit to go with the performance and looks, I put an amazingly fair price on this. I am certain it will be a loved piece in your collection.
Cosmetics:
The Unit is in very clean condition. There are a couple of small scratches on the knobs, a little bit of edge wear on the face edges, and some light discoloration of the black along the right front side and under the knob covers. It is very faint, but see photos.
I did not have the original feet for the unit, had to replace with comparable. The unit looks and sits perfectly. Photo of bottom provided.
There is a little bit of corner and edge wear on the wood sides, please take note in photos.
